Christmas Prayer from Tim Schindel

A year before we started Leading Influence, I was on a work trip to Victoria. Knowing that God had already called me to serve Canadian political leaders, I took an early morning walk and prayed my first prayer on the grounds of the BC Legislature. I chose these words from Isaiah, ch. 9.

‘For to us, a child is born. To us, a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.’

The cry of my heart on that beautiful spring morning was that the wisdom and grace of Jesus would reach and touch the soul of every BC politician and that God would use me in his plan to do that.

Within a year of that moment, God had opened a wide and effective door for Leading Influence to take its first very tiny steps at the BC Legislature. Seventeen years later, we are active in 6 of 10 provinces and serving on Parliament Hill. God continues to answer the prayer I prayed that morning.

As I reflect on that day, there’s a fresh urgency in that simple prayer in response to the tremendous and growing needs we see within our nation. More than ever, our leaders need to experience the transforming person and power of Jesus in their day-to-day lives and their leadership as they serve our provinces and nation.
Pray with me.

God in Heaven, we thank you for the beautiful and unique gift of your son, Jesus! He is everything that Isaiah prophesied that He would be and so much more.

As we celebrate the coming of Jesus, we pray that provincial and federal leaders from coast to coast to coast will experience his coming into their lives in a way that transforms every part of their lives.
We pray especially that as our leaders’ challenges increase, the grace and wisdom of Jesus will flood their hearts and minds. Grant them your strength, renew their courage, and give them your peace through this season and in 2024.

We pray for increased opportunities for the Leading Influence team to serve and support our leaders. Open doors create fresh possibilities to bless and strengthen members, staff and security.

We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus!
