Hon. Merrilee Fullerton, Kanata-Carleton

Merrilee Fullerton MPP

Dear Lord, we approach Your throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace as we ask You to help the Hon. Merrilee Fullerton, be the best wife, mother, friend and leader she can be.  Thank You for the life You have given to her and the opportunity that You have granted her to serve the people of Ontario, in the capacity of Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities.  Dear Jesus, we ask that Your favour would rest upon Merrilee.  Bless her with wisdom, above all.  Grant her the ability to solve even the most difficult of situations through new, innovative and creative ideas.  Lord, we ask, that You would establish the work of her hands and fill her with Your glorious peace.  Amen.

Merrilee Fullerton is a medical professional who has spent her career helping people in her community. In June 2018, she was asked by the Ontario Premier Doug Ford to assume Cabinet responsibilities as Minister for Training, Colleges and Universities.

Merrilee is a wife and mother, raising her three children in a busy Kanata household with Steve, her husband of 30 years. She is a lifelong Kanata resident; in fact, her family was one of the community’s first residents. She grew up on Kingsford Court, graduated from Earl of March High School, and taught swimming at Beaverbrook, Katimavik and Glen Cairn pools.

Having graduated from University of Ottawa Medical School, Merrilee practiced locally, first serving out of the Carleton Place Hospital and then as a family physician at Med-Team Clinic in Kanata. Dr. Fullerton has been very active in professional medical associations and local health care organizations, including advisory roles with both the Ontario Medical Association and Canadian Medical Association, and membership in the City of Ottawa Board of Health and the local LHIN serving Ottawa and area. Merrilee has been a constant advocate for better universal health care services, particularly long-term care services.
