Lord God, we thank you for choosing the Honourable Paul Merriman. You know him and love him, so we ask that you would encourage him and strengthen him today. Fortify him and give him understanding for all he faces. Give him understanding for the complex situations that he will encounter and surround him with wise, compassionate counsel. We pray for his family as well today. Bless them abundantly we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
First elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 2011, Paul Merriman continues serving his constituency and province following his re-election in 2016. Paul has called Saskatchewan home for nearly thirty years, having lived in Saskatoon since 1994. Born and raised in Toronto, he moved here with his family in 1988. Prior to the 2011 election, Paul was the executive director of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre. He was also formerly employed by SaskEnergy for eight years, setting up a province-wide salvage operation of used material. He has also owned and operated two small businesses. Paul is currently the Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety and Minister Responsible for the Firearms Secretariat. He has previously served as Minister of Social Services, Government House Leader, and Government Whip. He also sits on the Board of Internal Economy. Paul and his wife, Leane Durand, have four children.
