MLA Brooks Arcand-Paul, Edmonton-West Henday

Father in heaven this day we bring Brooks Arcand-Paul before You in prayer and we ask that you bless him as he begins his new position of MLA for Edmonton-West Henday. Lord we are thankful for his indigenous background and his experience in aboriginal governance suiting him well to serve as a member of the legislature. Jesus help him to adapt well to his new role in the opposition and to serve the people of Edmonton-West Henday with integrity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

 

Brooks Arcand-Paul was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-West Henday on May 29, 2023. Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, he was the in-house legal counsel for the Alexander First Nation in Treaty Six territory of Alberta. MLA Arcand-Paul held Associate positions at MLT Aikins (Edmonton) and Eagle Law Group (Tsuut’ina Nation). Before taking a position as a summer student with the Attorney General of Ontario (Toronto), MLA Arcand-Paul worked as a research assistant at Alexander First Nation and as an officer with Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta in First Nations education. He founded the National Indigenous Law Students’ Association in 2016, and held the positions of secretary, treasurer and vice-president as a student representative at the Indigenous Bar Association in Canada between 2014 to 2022. More recently, he volunteered with the Alexander First Nation working on law development until 2019. MLA Arcand-Paul has received both the Aboriginal Role Models of Alberta Award, and the Queen’s Jubilee Platinum Medal, in 2016 and 2022 respectively.
