We thank You, Lord, for the trust and favour the riding of Penticton has in MLA: Dan Ashton. We appreciate his willingness to serve and ably represent his constituents in the legislature. As we pray today, we are reminded of Your word that declares in Psalm 5:12 « With favour You will surround him as with a shield ». May You grant him daily strength for the many tasks he has before him. Grant him also Your wisdom and understanding as he fulfills, with grace, this mandate You have entrusted him with. Fill his home with with love, peace and joy. In Jesus’ dear name, we pray.
Dan Ashton was elected MLA for Penticton on May 14, 2013.
He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister Responsible for Core Review on June 7, 2013. He is the vice-chair of the Cabinet Working Group on Core Review, and a member of the Treasury Board. MLA Ashton has also served as the Premier’s representative to the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) since September 2014.
Before being elected as an MLA, Dan served two terms as Mayor of the City of Penticton following three consecutive terms as a Councillor. He served ten terms as Chair of the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen, and spent four years as a trustee on the Municipal Finance Authority.
While Dan was born in Edmonton, his family moved to Penticton two weeks after his birth and he considers himself a proud Okanaganite. The Ashton family business was retail, with locations in the Okanagan, Kootenays and the Lower Mainland.
Dan and his wife Monique have two children, Coleton and Chantal. The Ashton family prides itself on being active in the community.
