We pause to pray today, Lord, for Dr. Andrew Weaver, MLA for Oak Bay-Gordon, and also official leader of the Green Party in BC, as it supports the NDP government in leading our fair province of BC. You have blessed him, Heavenly Father, with extensive background, knowledge and experience in environmental topics and issues over the years of his academic and public service career, so we pray that you would enable him to utilize this unique experience and special insights to serve not only this government, but also this entire province, with integrity, wisdom and honesty.
Use all of his training and knowledge, research and understanding to be a blessing not only within the legislature but also to the people of BC, throughout Canada, and even the rest of the world. In Jesus name, we thank you for this man as he uses his considerable knowledge and insight in service to others. Lord, bless Dr. Weaver and his family abundantly in this coming year as he serves in our provincial legislature. Amen.
Prior to his election, he held the Canada Research Chair in climate modeling and analysis in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria.
Dr. Weaver is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS), the American Meteorological Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2008, he was appointed to the order of British Columbia. Dr. Weaver has served on numerous national and international committees. He was a Lead Author in the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th scientific assessments.
