MLA: George Heyman – Vancouver-Fairview (Demo)

Father God, we thank You for MLA George Heyman. Grant him Your wisdom, discernment, mercy and love as he serves his constituency and the Province of British Columbia as Opposition Spokesperson for Green Economy, Technology, and Translink. Protect him in all everything he does. Place a hedge of protection around him and keep him healthy and safe. May MLA Heyman experience a fresh sense of Your presence as he enters this New Year of 2015. Bless him with a year that is filled with Your promises. We pray this in the Name of Jesus! Amen.

George Heyman was elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Fairview in May 2013. Born and raised in Vancouver, George has lived and worked in Vancouver and throughout northwest B.C.

George serves as Opposition Spokesperson for Green Economy, Technology, and Translink.

George was the executive director of Sierra Club BC, one of the province’s oldest environmental advocacy and education organizations. He also served three terms as president of the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU). In both organizations, George was a respected negotiator and a strong fiscal manager, running consistent budget surpluses.

George has been a faculty member of Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Negotiation program, teaching courses in multi-party negotiations and collaborative decision-making. He has guest lectured at a number of universities in B.C. and abroad, and served on advisory committees for post-graduate and undergraduate degree programs at three B.C. universities.

George is a passionate advocate in Victoria for issues facing his constituents, including education, health care, the arts, child care, workers’ rights, transit and affordable housing.
