MLA: George Heyman – Vancouver-Fairview (Demo)

Lord Jesus, thank You for MLA: George Heyman and his commitment to serve our province.  We pray You will help him to quickly adjust to his new role.  Give him Your eyes and heart for his constituents and the people of British Columbia.  We pray also that he will have great wisdom in all of his decision making.  We ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

George Heyman was elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Fairview in May 2013. Born and raised in Vancouver, George has lived and worked in Vancouver and throughout northwest B.C.

George serves as Opposition Critic for Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services, responsible for green jobs, TransLink, and for film and television.

George was the executive director of Sierra Club BC, one of the province’s oldest environmental advocacy and education organizations. He also served three terms as president of the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU). In both organizations, George was a respected negotiator and a strong fiscal manager, running consistent budget surpluses.

George has been a faculty member of Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Negotiation program, teaching courses in multi-party negotiations and collaborative decision-making. He has guest lectured at a number of universities in B.C. and abroad, and served on advisory committees for post-graduate and undergraduate degree programs at three B.C. universities.

George is a passionate advocate in Victoria for issues facing his constituents, including education, health care, the arts, child care, workers’ rights, transit and affordable housing.
