MLA – Joan Phillip, Vancouver-Mount Pleasant

Gracious God, today we bring Joan Phillip, member for Vancouver-Mt. Pleasant to you.  We thank you for Joan’s years of leadership and service before entering politics.  May she draw on her experience today as she serves the people of British Columbia.  Grant her favour in each person she meets with and may she sense your guiding hand.  Bless her marriage and family in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Joan Phillip was elected to the constituency of Vancouver-Mount Pleasant on June 24, 2023. Before becoming elected, throughout her career, she worked as a Youth Counsellor at Britannia Secondary School, Education and Program Director at the Aboriginal Friendship Centre, and as the Lands Manager for the Penticton First Nation. Joan has been married to Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, the long-serving President of the BC Union of Indian Chiefs, for nearly 40 years. Together, they have five surviving children, 15 beautiful grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.​
