MLA: Michelle Mungall – Nelson-Creston (Demo)

Father, we bring before You Michelle Mungall, MLA for Nelson-Creston and Opposition Spokesperson for Social Development. We ask that You harness the strengths and passions that Michelle possesses and direct them down avenues that will have the greatest impact. We pray that You would influence her every decision and that she, in turn, would be an influence for others towards achieving Your goals. We thank You that You know all about Michelle and pray that she would desire to know You, too. We pray You would bless Michelle and her husband and strengthen the bonds of their marriage throughout this pressure-filled time in public service. We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Michelle Mungall was re-elected as MLA for Nelson-Creston in May 2013.

In 2002, Michelle was the youngest person ever elected to Nelson city council. Seven years later, at age 31, Michelle became the first woman elected as MLA in Nelson-Creston.

Michelle serves as Opposition Spokesperson for Social Development.

As a passionate speaker and volunteer, Michelle is a strong voice for the Kootenays. Her university studies and her career in community development have led Michelle to champion social justice and financial security both in her community and internationally.

Her career has included working for the Nelson Committee on Homelessness, and managing West Kootenay non-profits including the Nelson Food Cupboard and a micro-finance organization.

Internationally, Michelle worked as a National Programs Assistant for YMCA Zambia, helping to improve the lives of girls with HIV/AIDS.

Michelle and her husband Zak live in Nelson. They enjoy skiing, hiking, local arts and being active in the region.
