MLA Norm Letnick, Kelowna-Lake Country (Demo)

Today, Lord, we think about long-time MLA, Norm Letnick, as he enters his third term representing the people of the Kelowna-Lake Country region of BC. Father God, You have created this area with an abundance of natural beauty and flourishing fruit orchards, an enterprise close to Norm’s heart as the former Minister of Agriculture. Over the years, Norm has served on many governmental committees, and even on two different municipal councils (Banff and then Kelowna). May you use all of this diversity of experience to equip Norm to serve effectively in our provincial legislature, albeit in a different type of role this term. Guard his heart, and enable Norm to serve with clarity and with integrity. Bless Norm and his wife, Helene, and their three children, and now even one grandchild! Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayer regarding Norm and his family.  Amen.

Norm Letnick was re-elected to a third term as MLA for Kelowna-Lake Country in 2017.  Representing the Kelowna-Lake Country riding since 2009, Norm served as the Minister of Agriculture and has been involved in several committees, including as chair of the Select Standing Committee on Health, and as a member of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts, Treasury Board and Legislative Review Committee, as well as vice-chair of the Cabinet Committee on Strong Economy.  Norm was also significantly involved in Francophone affairs-related matters and Intergovernmental Affairs, including relations with the consular corps.

Prior to his election as an MLA, Letnick sat on municipal council in both Kelowna (2005-08) and Banff (1992-98), and was a tenured associate professor in Okanagan University College’s business program.  He has extensive business experience, having owned several financial services and technology-related firms.  Norm holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a Rhodes Scholarship nomination from the University of Calgary, a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University, and achieved candidacy status for a PhD in Health Economics from the University of British Columbia.  Letnick remains active in his home community of Kelowna. He and his wife Helene are the parents of three children and grandparents of one granddaughter.
