MLA: Vicki Huntington – Delta South (Demo)

Lord God we thank you for Vicki Huntington, member for Delta South.  We thank you that Vicki cares passionately for our environment and for sustainable agriculture.  We ask you would give Vicki new ideas and divine understanding on how she can lead British Columbians to further steward our natural resources.  We thank you for her years of service, both in and out of public office, and ask for your blessing on her life, relationships, and family, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Victoria (Vicki) Huntington is a native of Vancouver, B.C. and has a degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. She spent much of her early career in the RCMP Security Service and subsequently working with Ministers of the Crown in Ottawa. More recently, she served five terms as an elected Councillor in the municipality of Delta, B.C.

Vicki worked with the RCMP Security Service for most of the 1970s. Prior to joining the Force she was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the Canadian Army Intelligence Corps (Res).

Following her years with the Security Service, Vicki served as Band Manager for the Gitanmaax Indian Reserve in Hazelton, B.C. The first-hand knowledge and understanding gained in this capacity was invaluable in her later work as Policy Assistant to the federal Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development; as a member of the Nisga’a Task Group; and as Vice Chair of the Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee (LMTAC) and its representative on the Provincial Treaty Negotiating Team.

During her years in Ottawa, Vicki also served as Executive Assistant and Acting-Chief of Staff to the Solicitor General of Canada and to the Minister of National Revenue. She was also involved in various capacities with the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. She returned to British Columbia in 1988 as the Director of the Federal Ministers’ Regional Offices at Canada Place in Vancouver.

Vicki has shown a particular interest in environmental and agricultural matters. In this regard, she received an award from the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust for exceptional service.
