MLA: Vicki Huntington – Delta South (Demo)

Our earnest prayers of thanks, for a job well done, go out to MLA – Vicki  Huntington today as she retires from her position in the legislature as an « Independent ». Her valuable input will be missed greatly. We pray You will richly bless her in whatever endeavours she has for the future. Thank you for the sacrifices made by her family, as she gave so much of herself to make our province a better place to live. Keep her safe and well. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Victoria (Vicki) Huntington is a native of Vancouver, B.C. and has a degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. She spent much of her early career in the RCMP Security Service and subsequently working with Ministers of the Crown in Ottawa. More recently, she served five terms as an elected Councillor in the municipality of Delta, B.C.

Vicki worked with the RCMP Security Service for most of the 1970s. Prior to joining the Force she was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the Canadian Army Intelligence Corps (Res).

Following her years with the Security Service, Vicki served as Band Manager for the Gitanmaax Indian Reserve in Hazelton, B.C. The first-hand knowledge and understanding gained in this capacity was invaluable in her later work as Policy Assistant to the federal Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development; as a member of the Nisga’a Task Group; and as Vice Chair of the Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee (LMTAC) and its representative on the Provincial Treaty Negotiating Team.

During her years in Ottawa, Vicki also served as Executive Assistant and Acting-Chief of Staff to the Solicitor General of Canada and to the Minister of National Revenue. She was also involved in various capacities with the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. She returned to British Columbia in 1988 as the Director of the Federal Ministers’ Regional Offices at Canada Place in Vancouver.

Vicki has shown a particular interest in environmental and agricultural matters. In this regard, she received an award from the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust for exceptional service.
